01 What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored in your browser. They persist across page refreshes and visits, helping us recognize you and remember your preferences.
We also use similar technologies like localStorage and sessionStorage for local client-side data (e.g., language preferences, temporary state). These are not cookies but serve similar purposes.
02 Cookies we set
| Name | Type | Duration | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| ml_session | Strictly Necessary | Session | Authenticates logged-in users; deleted when you close your browser |
| ml_lang_pref | Functional | 1 year | Remembers your preferred language pair so you don't have to re-select it every visit |
| ml_plan | Functional | 1 year | Stores your subscription tier for UI rendering (which features to show) |
| ml_analytics | Analytics | 90 days | Anonymous usage analytics via self-hosted Plausible โ no personal identification |
03 Third-party cookies
We do not embed advertising networks, social media pixels, or third-party analytics that set their own cookies.
Payments are currently disabled, so Stripe checkout cookies are not set by Meetlingua.
04 Guest users
If you join a meeting without an account, we store only ml_lang_pref as a cookie so your language choice persists during that session and future visits.
Guest session data is cleared 24 hours after the meeting ends per our Privacy Policy.
05 Managing cookies
You can manage cookies in your browser settings:
Blocking ml_session will prevent you from logging in. Blocking ml_analytics has no effect on functionality โ it simply opts you out of anonymous analytics.
A cookie preference banner appears on your first visit; you can manage preferences there or revisit them anytime in your account settings.
06 Changes
If we add new cookies, we'll update this page and re-display the consent banner so you can opt in or out. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of the current cookie policy.
